PART 2: "Forgiven"

Sep 13, 2026  •  Jim McRae

Peter asked Jesus if forgiving someone seven times was enough. Jesus answered, “Not seven times, but seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18:21–22). Peter was looking for a limit. Jesus was showing him a way of life.

Forgiveness can be hard, especially when the hurt is deep or the same person has let us down again. Jesus’ words do not make that pain small. They challenge us to remember how much mercy God has shown us and to resist keeping a tally of every wrong.

In this message, we’ll talk about what forgiveness means, why Jesus calls us to practice it, and how we can begin even when we are still hurting. Forgiving someone does not require pretending nothing happened. It means taking an honest step toward releasing the debt we have been carrying and trusting God as we heal.
