Glory is a Cavapoo a.k.a “Velcro Dog”. She lives up to this trait to the best of her ability! Wherever I go, she goes with me. I can hear the pitter patter of her paws follow me to the laundry room. If I’m at my desk, she is curled up in her bed next to my office. If I go to the garage her fluffy little face is peaking around the door to see what I’m up to. She literally follows me everywhere!
But the sweetest thing is at night when we go to bed. Before we can turn the covers back, she is there waiting to draw close. Glory doesn’t just curl up at our feet, she falls onto them. Sleeping next to our feet is not enough. She has to be so close that she literally over compensates on her landing so that she falls on them and is aware of any movement during the night.
It makes me think about our relationship with Jesus. Do we follow so closely that when Jesus is moving around us we take notice and draw even closer? Do we fall into His presence trusting that when He moves we can follow in faith?
The presence of peace comes when we keep our eyes on Jesus. The presence of peace comes when we follow so closely to Jesus that we can discern where He is moving and we follow. Jesus might be moving to cleanse our heart and renew our minds. Jesus might be stirring us to join Him in the work of another human being. When we draw close, we are able to know when the Master is moving and then follow.
It is in the following that we experience the full presence of His peace.
