“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 (ESV)
Our thoughts shape our lives. Every action begins with a thought, and over time, our thought patterns create the atmosphere of our hearts. Jesus understood this deeply. In Matthew 12:34, He said, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” What fills our minds eventually overflows into our words, attitudes, and behaviors.
That’s why Jesus often called His followers to renew their minds; to think differently, to see life through the lens of God’s truth rather than fear, worry, or negativity. He said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” This peace begins not in our circumstances, but in our thoughts, when we fix them on Him rather than our problems.
Keeping a positive mindset isn’t about ignoring life’s difficulties, it’s about choosing to see them through the hope of Christ. Jesus reminds us that what fills our minds will direct our steps. When we allow His words to shape our thoughts, we become people of peace, hope, and joy, even in uncertain times.
Lord Jesus, help me to renew my mind with Your truth each day. When negativity and fear try to take root, remind me to fix my thoughts on You. Fill my heart with Your peace and my mind with Your promises, so that my life reflects Your light to those around me. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
