Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday and we off to the races, Christmas is here! In my desire to let the Advent season speak with the greatest voice I find myself feeling the tightness in my chest, the swirling ideas of gift shopping, the endless lists of things that need to be done before the end of December, and well that feeling of overwhelm has taken root. We are only 4 days in to the Advent season and I feel like I am being taken over by the hustle and bustle of the season. No, not this year! Jesus is the reason for the season and I am taking that truth back! What do I want for Christmas? Jesus, I just need more Jesus! So here we go:
I Need More Jesus This Christmas
I need more Jesus this Christmas;
not ribbons, lights, or snow,
not checking lists or racing time
where busy moments go.
I need the quiet manger,
the humble, holy scene,
the Savior wrapped in swaddled love,
God’s promise come to me.
I need the star to guide me
when days feel dark and long,
to lift my eyes to Heaven’s hope
and fill my heart with song.
I need His peace to hold me,
when chaos rules the day;
I need His joy reminding me
that love still lights the way.
I need His gentle whisper
above the noise and cheer,
a still, small voice of mercy
that draws my soul near.
I need more Jesus this Christmas;
more wonder, faith, and grace;
more glory in the simple
and gratitude in place.
So let my heart be Bethlehem,
a place for Him to dwell;
Emmanuel, God with us
my Savior, all is well.
Happy Advent and Merry Christmas!
